Good afternoon,
This week in Hazel we have revisited some of our previous learning in maths, looking at formal methods of addition and subtraction. The children have remembered the methods well but we still need to work on the speed of recall and mental addition and subtraction to support this. In English, we have started looking at narratives, the children have done very well picking up on the adjectives and adverbs and where and why speech has been used.
In history we discussed the inventions the Ancient Egyptians came up with and what ones we still use today. The children then tried to pick the 3 they deemed to be most important and had to justify why. In art we were looking at sculpting and the children had to sculpt a scarab beetle. Here are our end results:

Please keep encouraging the children to read at home, several children have really upped this and it is making a huge difference.
We still have PE on a Monday, so the children need to be in their PE kit, and we still have swimming on a Friday, so the children need to be in school uniform but also bring their kit.
I hope you all have a great weekend,
Mr Reynolds
