This month is going so fast, we're half way through the half term already!
This week the children have really enjoyed reading 'How the Elephant got its Trunk' by Andrea Florens. They have written the story in their own words using conjunctions such as 'and', 'but' and 'because' to extend their sentences. In this version, a young elephant was having a drink and was grabbed by a hungry crocodile. A tug of war commenced and the elephant's nose was stretched!
In maths we continue to subtract by counting back and use related facts to solve subtraction.
If I know that 8 - 3 = 5 then 18 - 3 = 15. The children are becoming more confident with knowing the tens and ones in a two digit number to 20.
As many of you know, next Tuesday we will be making our Junk Monsters from recycled materials. They are very excited and have already begun to bring in things from home to use. Thank you!
We have been looking at the work of Michelle Reader who made sculptures from recycled materials.
Please remember, it is really important that children have their book bag in school EVERYDAY!
Thank you,
Mrs Dowell, Mrs Armstrong and Mr Jones.
