Our story this week was 'Oliver's Vegetables' and the children have been drawing and writing about their favourite characters, their own veggie gardens and a surprise magic vegetable that did something to Oliver when he ate it. They also completed a piece of work after watching the clip "Once in a Lifetime" which the rest of school also used as stimulus for their writing assessments. The children drew some brilliant pictures and had some great ideas about where the characters might go or what they might be doing.
In Maths the children have learnt about 3D shapes, naming and describing them using the terms 'face' and 'surface', as well as talking about whether other shapes they see are flat (2D) or solid (3D).
Our focus this week has been healthy eating and living. It was great to see and hear in our initial discussion that children understand exercise is an important part of a healthy lifestyle as well as eating well and drinking water.

We also talked about the importance of getting lots of sleep and not having too much screen time, as well as personal hygiene - toothbrushing and hand washing properly.
This week the lovely weather has given our seeds a much needed boost of warmth and light and they are now all shooting up - even the peas we planted outside!

Our caterpillars are all in chrysalides and the children are eagerly awaiting an emerging butterfly! Fingers crossed they are all out before the end of next week so we can release them together before we break up!

Well done to Billy for working hard on his reading this week and being awarded the Reading Rex suitcase to take home. Also well done to all the children who read at home 5 times this week to earn a Crowmoor Coin. Keep up the good work!
Have a wonderful weekend in the sunshine!
