Beech Class Newsletter 21.3.25

Another busy week in Beech Class reading the story Jasper's Beanstalk and learning all about plant lifecycles and planting sunflower, pea and bean seeds.

The children are very excited to see what will happen as they've watched some seeds we put in clear bags start to grow roots by the end of the week. They have also loved watching our caterpillars grow over the last two weeks and are hoping by the time we return on Monday some will be ready to form their chrysalides.

In Maths they have been learning about time, learning the order of the days of the week, timing themselves to do tasks and seeing how many times they can do different things they can do in 30 seconds or a minute. They have also started learning to compare length, using the words long, longer, longest and short, shorter, shortest. Next week they will be learning to measure and compare length and height using cubes.

In phonics the children have continued to consolidate their Phase 3 sound knowledge, reading longer words and trying hard to read more words automatically. Well done to all the children who completed 3 or 5 reads at home this week to receive a reward. Keep up the great work!

On Friday they had lots of fun for Comic Relief, telling jokes and taking part in the activities on the playground. Our favourite joke was shared by Ivy - What do you call a bear with no teeth?

A gummy bear!

Next week we are reading the story The Very Hungry Caterpillar and learning about butterfly lifecycles, looking at how they are similar to other lifecycles we have learnt about - bird and plant.

Have a lovely weekend.
