Beech Class News 18.10.24

This week we have been listening to and retelling the traditional tale 'The Little Red Hen'.

We retold a brief version of it with actions, as well as using masks and small world resources. They have ordered pictures from the story and drawn and labelled their favourite characters. The children have been busy in the cutting and craft areas making their own red hens too.

In maths this week they have been learning to find, subitise (recognise without counting) and represent 1,2,3. Most children are confident with finding or representing with objects and can subitise up to 3 but we will continue to work on recognising the numerals as we learn about one more, one less and the composition of each number next week.

The children have learned the last four sounds for this term - h,b,f,l and these have been added to their sound cards if they had them in school today. If they did not, the new sounds are here waiting for them to bring their sound bags on Monday. Please can you ensure your child brings their reading book, yellow reading record and sound cards bag EVERY day. Thank you.

Don't forget Mrs Dowell is holding a phonics and early reading session on Tuesday at 9am and Wednesday at 2pm. Please try and make one of those sessions if you can to learn more about the Little Wandle phonics scheme and how you can best support your child with learning to read.

Have a lovely weekend.
