This week our focus book has been the Three Little Pigs. The children have really enjoyed retelling the story using puppets and actions, trying hard to also use our new vocab in their storytelling - construct, sturdy, flimsy, obliterate, exhale, scarper and flimsy.
They had great fun building houses and making playdoh pigs too.
In phonics this week we have learned the next four sounds - 'ck', 'e', 'u' and 'r' and the tricky word 'I'. The children are brilliant at remembering the tricky words we have learnt so far but have been finding some of the sounds a little more difficult to remember so we will be sending some home to practice from next week.
In maths this week they have been learning to copy, continue and create patterns using objects. Next week we will start to learn all about the numbers 1,2 and 3 - counting accurately, the composition of each number, and recognising each amount without counting (subitising) as well as recognising the numerals.
Just a reminder as the weather turns colder, that children need a warm coat every day, as we will always learn outdoors whatever the weather! Please ensure all jumpers/cardigans, coats, scarves, gloves and hats are all named to ensure they can be returned to their rightful owners! Thank you.
We look forward to seeing you all on Monday and Tuesday next week at parents evening, where you will have the opportunity to look at your child's book, and see the class floor books as well as speak to me about how they have settled in. If you need a reminder of your appointment time please drop me an email on beech@crowmoorschool.co.uk
