Hello everyone,
We’ve had a very busy week in Oak class! We have been continuing our work on persuasion in Literacy. We have been encouraging people to buy space jackets which have some very interesting features such as: teleportation, camouflage when near aliens and jet-packs! The children have been very enthusiastic and have written some great persuasive paragraphs.
In Maths, we have been focusing on division and using a formal written method to divide larger numbers. The children have been able to apply their times tables knowledge to help them solve the problems. Next week, we will be using and applying our knowledge to solve multi-step problems.
This week has been ‘Children’s Mental Health Week’ and the theme this year is, ‘Growing Together’. We have had lots of discussions about the importance of keeping our minds healthy and we came up with some ideas of what to do if you do not feel ok. The children were incredibly mature and empathetic when discussing mental health which was great to see. We talked about how different elements of our lives and life experiences can make us grow as people.
The children have had their last session with Coach Neil and the ‘Reading the Game’ programme. They have really enjoyed the sessions which have linked Literacy and football together!
Every child has done their Star Reader assessment this week and have been given their new ZPD number. Children have had the opportunity to change their books in line with their new ZPD levels. We hope to see lots of children reading their books and doing quizzes on them in school.
Have a wonderful weekend!
