We have rounded the week off with a very relaxing art lesson. The children have used their painting skills to paint oak leaves ready to decorate our class door. They have painted paper flowers too, very imaginative, again for our classroom door. Our design is inspired by our text “Leon and The Place Between.”
I am looking forward to marking your children’s narratives: a setting, again inspired by our class text this half term. Next week they will bring them home, hopefully they will entertain you and keep you interested. It would be great if you could give them some feedback and your thoughts on their writing. So watch out for this next week.
Our maths has focused around addition and subtraction, we will continue with this unit next week. Please make sure your child continues to learn their tables. This week we have awarded a number of Bronze Certificates, these children should be very proud because they have achieved three near perfect scores in a row!
This week’s spellings are words we have adopted from a number of different areas: history, science, other countries and cultures plus fashionable words. Every time I set these words I am surprised where the English language words actually come from. I have asked the children to find out about the origins of six words before next Wednesday – please see spelling page.
Meanwhile, huge congratulations to Brooke and Claudia for gaining the “Golden Certificates” for this week.
Finally, I hope the weather improves over the weekend. Please stay safe – hands, face and space! The children are improving all the time with their social distancing. See you soon, Mrs.P.
