Phew! Where did the Summer go to?
I hope you all had a super Summer?
Welcome to our new Year 5’s to Oak Class. Even though we have only been back for two days I feel as if I know some of you very well already. We have started the term off well. We have spent the last two days discussing our school rules: Be Safe, Be Ready and Be Respectful. We know what these mean and we have created our own class charter from them.
The children have written some super pieces about themselves, I look forward to reading them and getting back into the swing of marking again. This afternoon was spent painting. Part of our theme this term is to practice our painting skills and techniques which we will then apply when we go on our field visits to The Rea-Brook and Shrewsbury Quarry.
Our theme this term is called “Wild Waters!” We have lots of super learning activities planned. You will find some of these on our class information page. You will also see an introduction to Upper KS2 letter on the information page which should help you to know a little more about Upper School – Year 5 and 6.
I have sent the children home with their Reading Diaries, Question Book Marks and a book they would like to read over the weekend. It should be noted that the children have chosen these books, they are not at their ability levels but have been chosen to share and enjoy. Your child will always have two books in their reading packets: one to enjoy and one to push their reading levels.
The children have been allocated their lockers and keys today. We have talked them through and shown them how to use the lockers: next week will be a learning curve for everyone but I am sure they will soon get used to them.
We hope to answer lots of questions as the weeks go forward but please use the class email or contact us via the school office if you would like to speak to us.
Have a super weekend and we shall see you all next week.
Best wishes, Mrs P, Mrs Smith and Ms Nicholas.
P.S. PE is on Wednesday: the children should come to school in their PE kits – black shorts/ tracky bottoms if cold, white T shirt, sweat shirt and trainers or pumps. No jewellery or watches should be worn. It is easier and safer for the children to leave their ear-rings out on the day and at home.
