I hope you have all had a super Easter – the weather was great. Hopefully, the sunshine has sent all of the bugs and virus’s away for the Summer.
This week the children have started their new thematic learning: “Where in The World is Greece? Ancient and Modern” We are very excited about our new theme and have lots of wonderful learning activities planned. Please see our thematic web below.
With this in mind our literacy unit is all about Greek myths and mythology. Our chosen text is The Odyssey by Homer and our story to end each day with is called “Who Let The Gods Out” by Maz Evans. We are also hoping to improve our reading fluency and each week we have a short text to read out loud and discuss – the children will bring it home to practice too. This week it was called “Who are the Ancient Greeks?”
We have spent time completing our maths theme – Fractions. Next week we begin our maths theme – Decimals and Percentages.
Just a reminder that as the weather becomes warmer the children may want to wear either navy or black shorts for PE with a plain white T shirt and their sweat shirt. Trainers or pumps are suitable for PE on the playground or the field. A football kit is not appropriate for school PE. We are very proud of our uniform and so are the children.
A huge well done to Finley Williams for being awarded the Golden Certificate this week for his excellent maths work this week.
The spellings list will be given to the children on Tuesday.
We hope you have a super Bank Holiday weekend – take care if you are out and about in the Sun. “Slip, Slap, Slop, Slide” as they say in Australia.
Next week we welcome Miss Hipkiss back to complete her teacher training – we are looking forward to working with her again.
See you all on Tuesday, best wishes,
Mrs Parkhurst, Mrs Brunyard and Ms Nicholas.
