Another busy week in Holly Class trying to catch the Evil Pea! We have designed traps for him, talking and writing about how they will work and have been drawing and describing our favourite superhero or villain using describing words.
In Maths, Reception have been learning about repeating patterns, continuing and creating their own from various resources. Year 1 have been learning to read and use the greater than, less than symbols, use ordinal number and use a number line to count, including how to place numbers correctly on a blank number line.
As well as creating their traps, the children have also been exploring ice in the water tray and creating their own ‘Supertato’s to help with the search for the Evil Pea!
Just a reminder that now the weather has become more Autumnal, children should have a coat in school EVERY day. They are outside throughout the day in our outdoor area and on the main playground during lunch time so coats (preferably with a hood) are a must. Thank you.
Reading books have been changed today for both year groups if they have TWO recorded reads in their yellow reading record. They are also given the choice to change their ‘free choice’ book whenever they would like, so please ensure these are in school every day. Reception will be starting to learn letter sounds from Monday and will bring home a small bag of sounds we have learnt at the end of the week to practice at home. These will be added to each week as we learn more sounds. Please ensure these are kept in their book bags with their reading things and brought to school every day.
Have a lovely weekend.
Miss Jones, Ms Roberts, Mrs Kearney, Mrs Millichamp and Miss Kenny.
