There has been lots of improvement in spellings this week, well done! There’s still a way to go, they are getting difficult so please make sure they practise little and often. This week they are learning different ways to make the ‘igh’ sound.
In literacy, we have been learning to spot nouns in a text and to order the letters of the alphabet. Next week they will begin to writ their stories based on our class book ‘That Rabbit Belongs to Emily Brown’. They will write an adventure story for their toy that they brought in last Friday.
In maths, we have been counting in steps of 2, 5, 10 and 3. There has been lots of discussion about the numbers and the pattern each times table makes on the 100 square. all the children are getting very good at counting in steps of 2s, 5s and 10s. Now they need to learn the times tables out of order and recall the facts.
During Science we are continuing to look at the materials things are made of and why. There ahs been lots of discussion and the children are really starting to think like scientists and to use the correct vocabulary. For instance, in Year 2 we say glass is ‘transparent’ not ‘see through’ and some plastic is ‘flexible’ not ‘bendy’.
Have a fab weekend, enjoy the sun!
