This week we have started our Firework poetry unit with lots of sound words. The children have thought about all the things they would see, hear, smell, touch and taste on Bonfire Night. This will help them to write their poems next week.
The children have all started to learn how to add two digit numbers using the column method. They now understand how important it is to recognise the tens and ones in a two digit number and how to set out their calculation using squared paper. Next week they will begin subtraction using the column method. They will need lots of practise to become fluent.
Most children have now logged on to ‘Times Tables Rock Stars’ (TTRS), chosen their Rock Star name and completed their first ‘Gig’. The more they practice the quicker they will become!
We have also welcomed Miss Childs into Elm Class who will be with us nearly until Christmas. As ever, the children have been very friendly and helpful. They are all becoming much more independent and confident.
Please continue to support your child with their reading, it’s so important that they read little and often. Reading just one page each night would make a huge difference.
Have a good weekend, spelling test will be on Thursday next week!
