What a busy first week back we have had! We settled straight into our literacy unit to write a newspaper report. We looked at ‘First News’ which is a children’s newspaper that we have delivered to school each week. The children enjoyed looking through them and spotting the headlines.
We are continuing our work on 2D and 3D shapes. Today we have looked at the 2D shapes of the faces on 3D shapes. It’s a tricky subject with lots of new words to learn. Please continue to support your child with their times tables. You can do this by encouraging them to log on to Times Tables Rock Star as this automatically tracks their progress.
To start our geography, we drew a map of the classroom. I have challenged the children to draw a map of one of the rooms in their house. Next we will be drawing a map of their route to school. On the way to school, try to prompt them to take notice of the route they take. When do they turn left/right? What are the street names?
Please look out for your Parent’s Evening appointment. I look forward to speaking to you all on Monday or Tuesday. If you do not have an appointment, I will be arranging a time for a telephone call over the next couple of weeks.
Have a lovely weekend, let’s hope it’s not as wet as the last one!
