Welcome back everybody, we’ve had a really good first week! Most children have come to school with a container to keep their ice lolly cool, thank you. We will be completing our investigation on Thursday, next week, so there is still time to gather some suitable materials.
We have begun our new literacy unit based around a book by Lauren Child called ‘Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Book?’ All the children have found it a very funny book. Herb is a little boy who ‘falls’ into a book of Fairy Tales where he has upset some of the characters!
In maths we have started to solve division. The children have found out that this is a lot easier if they know their 2, 5 and 10 times tables facts. Please help them to recall these facts as often as possible. We are also becoming more confident at counting in 3s.
The spellings we have to learn in Year 2 are becoming even trickier. It is really important that your child practises as mush as possible. They can do this on their own using the sheet they have been given, please give them a reminder to look this out of their book bag.
Have a fab weekend,
Mrs Dowell
