This week we have looked at the story ‘Flo of the Somme’, by Hilary Robinson, the author of ‘Where the Poppies Now Grow’ that we read last week. It was a story about a ‘mercy dog’ who helped save the lives of many soldiers during the war. We noticed the end of each line rhymed so have spent the week developing our rhyming skills, trying to make rhyming strings e.g. dog, frog, log, cog etc. It has been quite tricky so it would be great if you could help your child continue to practice this at home. In Maths we have continued practicing number bonds to 5 and have also been looking at 2D and 3D shapes, learning to name them correctly.
Just a reminder that children need a full PE kit in school every week. As some children have been doing after school clubs and the weeks have passed we are noticing more children missing parts of their kit. They should all have a white t-shirt, dark shorts and black pumps. It would also be really helpful if they were all named to avoid any mix-ups! We do PE EVERY Wednesday so please ensure your child has their kit in school then.
Thank you to those of you who came to the Stay and Play session Wednesday. There is another session on Wednesday 17th October at 2pm. It would be great to see as many of you as possible there. Other relatives are more than welcome should you be unable to make it yourself.
