Another busy week in Beech class, continuing to learn about other people who help us and talking about who could help us in different situations. The children have also been busy turning our indoor role play into a police station and have had great fun role-playing police officers, especially when they come to arrest the adults or write us a ticket! In Letters and Sounds we have had a week focusing on blending and learning our tricky words. The children have no new sounds this week but have been given tricky word bingo boards in a wallet to play at home. We will continue to learn the last few sounds of the alphabet over the next two weeks and then will spend some time after half term ensuring the children are confident blending to read words and short sentences before we move on to learning more sounds. In Maths we have been looking at common 2D shapes, naming and describing them as well as making repeating patterns with them. We have also explored capacity through water play and length with playdough that they made themselves.
Don’t forget it is our monthly Stay and Play session this Wednesday 16th October at 2pm. It would be lovely to see you there. The Harvest Service is the following week on Tuesday 22nd October at 1.30pm at the Baptist Church. Beech Class will be performing a special song on their own so make sure you don’t miss it!
Our Superhero dress up day is also rapidly approaching – Thursday 24th October. We are encouraging children to think outside the box a little and not necessarily dress as a well know comic-book superhero but perhaps one of the everyday superheroes we have been learning about over the last few weeks – from the emergency services and health workers, to vets, postal service worker, mechanics etc. If you have any queries about any of the above events, please just ask.
Have a lovely weekend. 🙂
