This week we took part in World Nursery Rhyme Week and have been learning all sorts of new rhymes as well as changing ones we know well. As part of our learning we revisited rhyming and making rhyming strings with real and made up words.
In Letters and Sounds we have learnt the sounds made by the last few letters of the alphabet. The children will now be concentrating on making sure they know all those sounds really well and can blend them to read simple words and sentences. We will also be focusing on writing simple words and sentences and improving letter formation.
In Maths we have met Numberblock 5 and have been learning to use our reasoning skills to talk about number order and why one number is ‘more’ or ‘fewer’ than another. Next week we will continue to explore five, how it is made up and what other things can represent five.
The Bakery role play area has really taken shape and the children loved making salt-dough goodies to go in it. They are now baked ready for them to paint and decorate next week when we start our learning about The Gingerbread Man.
We have had a super morning helping to plant the trees on the school field and are looking forward to watching them grow over the next few months and years!
Just a reminder that PE is on FRIDAYS only so children should be in school uniform on all other days. Thank you.
The children have brought their progress reports and another letter home today. If you have any queries about either of these please email me on the class email.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend.
Miss Jones, Mrs Millichamp and Mrs Kenny.
