Hello everyone!
Another week has flown by and we are soon approaching half term. This week, we have been looking at character descriptions in Literacy. We have been identifying the features and have been drawing story maps. We have also done our Star-Reader assessments for Accelerated Reader and the children will have their ZPD number written in the back of their Reading Records now. We do our AR quizzes on Tuesdays and change our books then too.
In Maths, we have been continuing our work on addition and subtraction methods. I have been really impressed with the children this week as they have been very methodical when working out the questions. If you would like further guidance on the methods we use in Year 4, please go to our class information page where our section of the Calculation Policy can be found – this shows you exactly how we teach column methods at Crowmoor.
Ukulele lessons have been continuing this week with chilldren learning new chords. We have also started looking at our new topic on the Tudors. We will go into this in more detail after half term. I think the children are really excited to be learning about Henry VIII – he was quite a gruesome king!
Spellings can be found on our spellings page and they have also been handed out today ready for Thursday’s test. PE kits need to be worn on Thursdays too ready for our lessons with Mr Lloyd.
We finish for half term next Thursday. Friday is a PD day!
Have a great weekend and stay safe!
