Hazel Class Weekly Newsletter 27.1.23
Hello everyone,
This week in in English, we have begun our unit on explanation texts. We have looked at different examples linked to the Egyptians, discuss, and identified the features of an explanation text.
In Maths, we have begun our unit on length. We have measured in millimetres, centimetres and meters. As well as finding equivalent lengths.
Just a reminder that children should leave personal belongings at home, as we would not want anything getting lost or broken.
Well done to this weeks golden certificate winner, Anya. For her improvement in her spellings and weekly spelling tests, well done for all of your hard work with these!
Have a lovely weekend,
Miss Bliss and Mrs Martin

Good afternoon,
We have a had an interesting week, finishing our English and maths units, exploring behaviour, investigating heart rates and researching the roles of women during the World War 2.
The descriptive vocabulary and phrasing in English has been fantastic and I really hope the children keep it up. One child who did particularly well with their description and their presentation, and who also has received the Willow Golden Certificate was Bobby.
This week the children do not have any maths and SPAG homework, so please encourage the children to use this extra time to read.
I hope you all have a good weekend,
Mr Reynolds

Good afternoon,
This week we are well under way in our new maths topic, recapping factors, multiples and divisibility rules. This week the Golden Certificate Winner has demonstrated their understanding consistently as well as working very hard on their presentation, congratulations Arthur.
The children have enjoyed testing their independent printing skills in art, seeing what they could remember from previous years, whilst exploring the shape of the print. In geography, we started to build on our understanding of 4-digit grid references, by looking at 6-digit grid references; this has proved a bit of a challenge, however some children are becoming very precise and accurate.
This week we have also held our elections for Head Girl and Head Boy, all the children who ran for these posts did a fantastic job which was reflected in how close the results were. Congratulations to Alice and Ethan for becoming Head Girl and Head Boy, and also to Amelia and Archie for becoming Deputy Head Girl and Deputy Head Boy.
To help us make sure we’re providing the best standard of education for your child/children, we’d like to know how you feel about our school. Today, your children brought home a questionnaire to be completed and returned to school. However, if you would rather complete it online, please click on this link:

I hope you all have a great weekend,

Today’s Art!
Today we have mixed tints by adding white to a primary colour. Paul Klee used tints in lots of his paintings!
